Future of hybrids is now at Jim Butler Chevrolet in St. Louis
2015 Volt combines gas and electricity for 900-plus miles average between fill-ups
The 2015 Chevrolet Volt — available at Jim Butler Chevrolet — established an entirely new segment in the global automotive market. It is a five-door, four-passenger car designed to provide the fuel-saving and emissions-reducing benefits of an electric vehicle without the range limitations associated with all-electric vehicles.
VOLT OWNERS ARE GOING PLACES
When one thinks of a hybrid car, they may think of tiny vehicles or even a car with only two seats. The 2015 Volt breaks that mindset with a hybrid car that looks closer to an ordinary all-gas sedan. Bold lines are sculpted with powerful purpose and an aggressive stance. A smooth exterior, closed grille and the rear spoiler are among a few design choices contributing to a low drag coefficient. The exterior is available in eight colors.
Take a look inside the interior for a unique cockpit-inspired design. The interior of the 2015 Volt incorporates a full center console and four sporty bucket seats. Five interior styles are available — two cloth and three leather — to suit your style.
There are two interactive 7-inch diagonal color LCD screens — the Driver Information Center behind the steering wheel and the center panel touch-screen with efficiency feedback, driving mode selections, available rear camera display and entertainment options. As with many new Chevrolet models, the Volt comes with available 4G LTE Wi-Fi to connect up to seven devices at once to the Internet. Available safety features such as Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning along with standard eight airbags and Stability Control help create a safer environment for the Volt and its driver and passengers.
The 2015 Volt is powered by an electric propulsion system as opposed to a tradition gasoline engine. An electric drive engine, lithium-ion battery and a gas-powered generator work in harmony to power the Volt. The electric drive unit propels the wheels; the 17.1 kWh provides the juice, and when the T-shaped battery runs low, gas-powered generator kicks in and extends trips for 380 miles on a full charge and tank of gas. The generator also provides charge to the battery until it can be recharged.
With this technology, the 2015 Volt can travel up to 38 miles in EV mode without using any gas. Plus, the Volt uses its gas-powered generator to travel up to 380 miles on a full charge and tank of gas. A standard 120V charging unit (full charge in 10 to 16 hours) comes standard with purchase, and a 240V charging station (four hours for full charge) can be professionally installed in your home and is an available option.
